Goorme is a smart online application for food lovers, which is able to recommend you new food to try that matches your Taste Profile.
The Lebaran holiday is going to end soon and me and gf haven't really completed our mission to try new restaurant (which of course suits our taste) in town yet.
However, i remembered once read some of blogger friends' tweet ( @ImelB, @lolo_appetite and @gfgfgl ) about this restaurant at Grand Indonesia named Kado++. So then I contacted Imel to ask about this and decided to go give it a try on Saturday night.
Kado++ is a new establisment by Kawano International (www.kawanointl.com), a restaurant group owned by native Japanese. It is located strategically on level 3A Grand Indonesia, adjacent to Y&Y. It is located in the corner end of the alley, hence the name Kado (means "corner").
The restaurant is quite crowded, but not that fully packed. We don't need a minute to be seated at the non-smoking section (the smo and non-smo section are separated by their open kitchen). The interiors remind me of something with Canteen and something with Immigrant. Exposed bricks, spotlight lighting, wooden furnitures. Just nice. However they might wanna do some "polishment" to their aircon pipes on the ceilings so that they looked more clean and sleek.
We then offered the menu by the friendly staff. The menu choice isn't as many as I expected for Japanese restaurant, but quite interesting. The menu focused in kushiyaki/yakitori (grilled and skewered items) and kamameshi (rice dishes). I once interested to try their kushiyaki and sandwich, but since we are VERY VERY hungry, we decided to order ramen and don.
We went for Tori Ramen, Tori Don, Tori Karaage and Kado Potato. The ramen (priced 30.000) is exceptional. The broth isn't that delicious as Hakata Ikkousha's but very light yet also nice and very enjoyable. The highlight about the ramen is the chicken inside. It's heaven, I tell you. Orgasmic, in other word. Ha-ha-ha!
Tori Don is also good, generous portion of rice, with big chunks of chicken (unfortunately slightly bland), minced chicken, egg and sweet soya sauce at 54.000.
Tori Karaage, however is kind of dissapointing. Priced 30.000,- the chicken tasted bland, the crispiness of the skin also not that good and the dipping sauce is a little too salty. We at first wanted to order crispy salmon skin (priced 20.000) but they're out of order. Next time, we will :) :)
Then it comes to this Kado Potato. Priced only 20.000,- it's similar to western-style potato wedges, baked to crispiness and crusted with salt and togarashi. Maybe they added some MSG too because it's sooooo good! :)
We will definitely go back to Kado++. Nice interior, nice food with descent price. What else we should ask? They only need to maintain, or even better improve their quality of products and service. Congratulations, Kawano International. Finally opened a branch in some serious shopping mall. We need this authentic style japanese rather than those other fancy japs all over malls.
Itadakimasu!!
